“Chinese Drywall' are sheets of drywall manufactured in China with residues of volcanic ash containing large amount of sulphur. All this Chinese Drywall was imported from China at the time of the boom of construction in the United States since 2001. Tests of samples analyzed show that these sheets contain volatile chemicals that have been identified in emissions of sulfurous gases or disulfide of carbon, Carbonyl sulfide, and hydrogen sulfide. These emissions, which have the smell of rotten eggs, the smell became highest with high temperatures and humidity.
